Platelet count results from the PC100 are available on the device screen about 4 minutes after loading the slide. This page explains what the PC100 reports after a count, how to read the platelet count results and the CV, and how to document or export them. For the underlying accuracy data, see platelet counter accuracy & precision.
How to read PC100 platelet count results
Every sample is counted in two chambers of the disposable slide. The PC100 shows the platelet concentration of each chamber in platelets per nanolitre (plt/nL, equivalent to 109/L) together with the CV. The agreement between the two chambers gives an immediate indication of the quality of the count: a low CV means the duplicate counts are consistent. Whole-blood results fall in the validated range of 20-600 plt/nL and PRP results in 250-3600 plt/nL; results outside these ranges should be interpreted with care or repeated after appropriate dilution.
Measurement results PC100 platelet counter
Counting results of the PC100 point-of-care platelet counting device are shown immediately after a platelet count has been finished.
When the platelet measurement is completed, the concentration of platelets in both chambers is shown. Measurement results are given in number of platelets per nanoliter. Also the CV value is provided.

Accurate platelet counting in Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) or Whole Blood within 4 minutes
The PC100 platelet counter is designed for rapid and efficient thrombocyte counting, with a typical measurement time of just 4 minutes. This quick process allows for the fast preparation and counting of platelet concentrations in whole blood and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). In exceptional cases, the process may extend up to 8 minutes, but the device is optimised for a streamlined experience. The quick turnaround ensures that platelet counts can be completed efficiently without compromising accuracy, making it a valuable tool various environments where time and precision are crucial.
Measurement report
View report
A detailed report can be visualised after a measurement has been completed. The detailed measurement report of the PC100 point-of-care platelet counting device contains the following information.
Counting details
Counting details contains overall results and details of the platelet measurement, including relevant notifications.
Print or export results
The measurement report and the result images can be exported or printed.
Result images
The measurement report shows for each counted position a miniature picture of the count result and key information. You can see each count position also in full detail.

Documenting platelet count results
Because the measurement report includes the counting details, notifications and an image of every counted position, platelet count results from the PC100 are fully traceable. Reports can be printed or exported, which makes it straightforward to file a result in a patient record, a PRP preparation log or a laboratory quality system, and to review a count afterwards if a result looks unexpected.
