Platelet Counter Price & Cost per Test

What does a platelet counter cost? The platelet counter price has two parts: the device and the consumables per count. This page explains how the PC100 is priced, what a count costs in practice, and how that compares with the alternatives: an external laboratory or your own hematology analyzer. Current list prices of the PC100 and the disposable kits are shown in our webshop; for practices, multi-unit orders and distributors we prepare a quotation.

How the PC100 is priced

ItemWhat it isPricing
PC100 platelet counterCounting device plus PC100 software; runs on a standard Windows laptop, supplied with the device or your own; one-off purchaseFixed device price, see webshop or quotation
LaptopStandard Windows laptop running the PC100 softwareIncluded on request, or use your own
Disposable kitCounting slide and reagent cup, one kit per countPriced per kit; volume packs available
Calibration, QC material, service contractNot required for the PC100None
Training and onboardingShort introduction, instructions for useIncluded; on-site training on request

There are no hidden running costs: no calibrators, no control material to keep in stock, no cleaning cycles or cleaning solutions, and no mandatory service contract. Because the PC100 has no fluidics, there is nothing to rinse or prime; the disposable slide is discarded after each count. The cost of ownership is the device plus the number of counts you perform.

Cost per platelet count

Because every count uses exactly one disposable kit, the cost per count is transparent: the kit price, plus the device price spread over the number of counts you perform during its lifetime. For a PRP practice that counts baseline and final product for each treatment, the two kits are a small fraction of the treatment fee and provide a documented platelet dose in return. For a clinic that replaces external laboratory tests, compare the kit price with what the laboratory charges per platelet count, plus the courier and the waiting time.

For most practices and small clinics the question is not “PC100 or analyzer” but “PC100 or no platelet count at all”, because a hematology analyzer is only economical when a full blood count is needed at volume. See PC100 vs hematology analyzers for the technical comparison.

What you get for the price

  • Validated accuracy for whole blood (20-600 plt/nL) and PRP (250-3600 plt/nL), published in a peer-reviewed study in Thrombosis Journal.
  • Results in about 4 minutes from 20 µl of blood or 10 µl of PRP.
  • No calibration, no cleaning cycles, no maintenance contract: the disposable slide replaces the fluidics of a hematology analyzer.
  • PC100 software on a standard laptop, with a printable, exportable report with images for every count.
  • CE-marked class A IVD, manufactured under ISO 13485 in the Netherlands.
  • Support from Dutch Medical Devices or your local distributor.
